I’ve been seeing many Nike athletes wearing Vaporfly 2s and Alphaflys 1s on raceday recently over the newer models. Also adidas runners choosing Adios Pros over the $500 shoe. Do we think the technology is maxed out???
I just asked a South African athlete about this and was told Adidas are only handing out that $500 new version to favored athletes. If your not in with the right people you just get the regular Pro version.
But what I’m saying is… If the alphafly 2s or 3s were actually better why wouldn’t the athlete wear hem for 6 months and get used to them. Galen and Mantz wore Alphaflys 1s for Chicago this year while the newer models of shoes have been out for quite some time now. My opinion is that there is no real difference in performance between the newer supershoes and the current super shoes. If there was I’d imagine the athletes would try to adjust to the newer (faster) ones.

Well the big advancement occurred with the original VF4%. all the remaining changes to Nike shoes have been marginal. The AF2 is absolutely slower for most than the AF1. However Kiptum and Kipchoge chose the AF3 for their most recent go so my guess would be the AF3 is comparable or possibly an improvement on the AF1.
in my own experience, I found the Vaporfly Next% OG version the shoe I reacted best to. AF1s are great but a bit heavier. the VF2 was too stiff for the thon, the VF3 a bit too soft. VF1 was just right — if I could buy them now I’d still use them.

Dope thanks for the input brother. Thinking I might try to get my hands on the Vaporfly 2s for my next marathon
