In addition to what everyone else has already said, 15:00 is pretty fast on the NXN course. CR is 14:44 (last year) and Nico Young ran 14:52. Given the conditions, I think this was a dececnt run, probably worth 10-15 seconds faster on a better day.
If I’m going to take a wild guess, every single athlete had their legs feeling like trash. They then decided to save their legs for the next big race and just did a tempo. You know, their excuse aligns with every Strava workout hero’s race so it’s okay.
I have been at every single NXN here in Oregon. Not one ever came close to the conditions of this one. The entire top layer on the race path would engulf your feet today….

I have my favorite all time athletes but i have to be brutally honest this years conditions were unlike any other year…..maybe Rich can back me up on this one.

Are you sure you were at NXN 2012? The conditions today were bad, but I don't think you can fairly compare them. The Portland Meadows course was an absolute mess then. The winning time was 17:06 by Sam Wharton who went on to run 15:16 for sixth at Footlocker.
