Not shocked. She's probably the most high-profile Nike track athlete right? There is Crouser but field athletes don't get the respect they deserve. Jakob is obviously up there too.
Considering the issues Nike has had with their sprinter sponsorships in the past few years I can definitely understand why they would put down the big bucks to keep her signed to Nike.
I wonder if Michael Norman is gonna go looking for another sponsor. Curious if he signed a multi-year contract.
I SO wish this were true. That would mean Nike is paying Sha'Carrie almost as much as they are paying USATF each year. Perhaps Sha'Carrie's agent should be heading up USATF and Max (take Diffey with you) can do his NASCAR thing.
Important to note the article clarifies this is a $20M deal over a 5-year period, so it averages out to $4M a year. That's still an insane amount of money to talk about for a track athlete, though.
While the article's source seems to be kind of strange and I'm not sure if it's reliable, I don't think this is completely out of the world of possibility. For one, we should know Nike has basically unlimited money and would have no problem shelling out big bucks for athletes that are world beaters and are highly recognizable. Sha'Carri is both a world beater, and is somewhat recognizable, but compared to her peers she is especially recognizable. She is a cultural phenomenon that I think Nike wants to jump on the bandwagon. She has an attitude and persona that will continue to attract attention, and Nike wants to make sure their logo is slapped on it.

Eh, I wonder if Norman is going to sack up and run the 400? Guy either seems poorly managed or emotionally soft- maybe both?
Super reliable source . Pulse sports ?? Probably some dude living out of a grocery cart casing the gate up in Beaverton.
You never know. I personally know a pro distance guy who is doping (injecting hormones into his body), I’ve name dropped him anonymously, and it receives downvotes and dismissal from other posters.
It doesn’t sound extreme, she has a HUGE social media presence for track athletes, her testing positive for Mary-j lowkey helped her. Social media has a huge impact on people’s contracts nowadays- unless if you’re Galen Rupp of course.

The rest of the country would appreciate it if you stopped saying this word.
Sadly our sport is still 3rd Rate picked up on the Century City indie exchange.
$4 mill year is embarrassing.
Actually if you look up career earnings for UFC fighters, it's pretty surprising. They have huge promotion, wealthy parent company, big fan base and social media presence. Yet, only 10 guys have made more than 7million, topped by McGregor at 25M. Hall of famer Mark Coleman has total career earnings of only $250k.
does anybody else touch her 3 million followers? she should probably be the highest paid by far. maybe double everybody else
I'm sort of confused as to why she has over 5x what Noah Lyles has. Both of them seem like people you know about if you follow track even a little, and not people you know about if you don't, so what gives?
