Last year I was suffering from pain at the point where the middle toe connects to the ball of my foot. The only shoes which allowed me to run pain-free were those with a carbon plate since they limited the amount of flex in my forefoot. I chose the Hoka Carbon X 3 for my training runs because it seemed more robust and durable than the other carbon plated shoes.
After a year of injury-free running I recently learned that the Carbon X 3 is being discontinued and I'm currently looking for a replacement. The top candidates are the following from Hoka
(1) Rocket X 2: This seems more like a dedicated racing shoe and I'm not sure of how durable it will be for training runs.
(2) Mach X: This looks like the replacement for the Carbon X but more race-specific
(3) Techton X: This looks durable but seems to lack the rocker shape of the other two (I think the rocker also took pressure off my forefoot).
Does anyone have any opinions about which one of these (or another shoe from another brand) would the best for daily training runs?
