Yes, good for him. Best to leave a sinking ship before it actually sinks. And he has a bright future. Time for him to get a coach who will 100% focus on one team.
"I'm incredibly thankful for the experiences I had with the people who made them possible, but moving forward I feel it’s in my best interest to go another direction."
I'm curious to know what people think of him training under Ben Thomas with Cole Hocker. Is that a good move? Obviously Cole's a top 3 or 4 American miler at the moment, but is there really nowhere better for Teare? I'd say OTC, but he's Nike. Training with Kessler could be interesting, but he's not Adidas either (and I would heavily bet against him doing it, even if he could). There's Mike Smith's group, but Teare seems to think a 5k/10k group is not the place for him.
Personally, I'd go to Mike Smith, but I'm not him, so I don't wanna pretend to know anything.

Discus your thoughts.
Coop and Cole were training together under Thomas 2 years ago and were doing quite well. In many people’s minds Coop was the superior talent. Before he originally left Thomas I would have said Bowerman was the only reasonable place for him to go besides Thomas. Now that he’s tried it and decided it’s not for him, Thomas is the only option. Smith is a 5/10 guy and Coop has made it clear he sees himself as a mile type. Nike seems to have some kind of guidelines surrounding coaches and I imagine OAC and VNTC are not in the question. Not sure what you mean by OTC. Oregon Track Club was conventionally nike, but I’m not sure what the status of it is. If Thomas and Cole are in VA now, it might be dead in the water.
i don’t think many felt coop was the bigger talent, either. he will be fine somewhere but BTC, Mike Smith, or Blacksburg seem like fine places. There are other good coaches but not with talent around them to train with.
I called this weeks ago but my thread got deleted…
You called it??? No, you simply guessed he'd be next after Grant and it happened, not that big of a "call". Poster on this site are too funny and insecure for words.

The two best options for him were Ben Thomas or Andy Powell. It's interesting how Powell who is a better 1500 coach than Jerry also viewed Teare as a 5k guy.
1) Shelby Houlihan is behind the scenes sniping Bowerman athletes (Fisher and Teare) for her own superteam, named Burrito Track Club, to enact revenge on Jerry by retaking the trademark of “BTC”.
2) Gjert’s sons have mutinied and he must adopt new sons to defeat them for the prodigal son Jakob to retire and return to the family. Like something out of Talladega Nights, where F1 star Jean Girard defects from France and comes to America to compete in NASCAR against Ricky Bobby. When he eventually loses he retires and returns back to France, knowing he has been defeated by a superior driver. He is courting young BTC athletes to join his new team, named “Gjert’s Association of Young Stars” (GAYS), as a nod to Jean Girard’s orientation.
Never really bought in. It seemed the move to BTC was poorly thought out, as the “next step” a grown up takes. But even going pro was poorly thought out. A two man pro team, still trying to live the college life in their college town? This next move needs to hit and he is also hopefully looking to get his degree for life after.
