I was reading an article from some Canadian website about how people have supposedly cut down their drinking. The article had two wild claims in it.
1) "A Leger poll released in March showed that since the new guidelines were announced in January, 40 per cent of Canadians have cut back on drinking." I'm supposed to believe that 40 percent of Canadians have cut their drinking simply because the govt made some statement about how you shouldn't drink earlier in the year and said instead of drinking 10-15 drinks a week, you shouldn't have more than 2.
I find that hard to believe but maybe some cut back a tiny bit - like from say 10 to 9 drinks. The next point is even harder for me to believe.
2) "Data from MyFitnessPal, an American fitness and nutrition tracking company, shows that its 200 million users, on average, have cut their drinking by almost one-third since 2020. That is especially true in users under the age of 30, who are logging far less alcohol intake on the app since, said MyFitnessPal chief marketing officer Katie Keil."
I found #2 entirely impossible to believe. Fit people have cut drinking by 30% since 2020. No.
Does anyone believe that? Have your friends but back that much?
