Pole sitting is the practice of sitting on top of a pole (such as a flagpole) for extended lengths of time, generally used as a test of endurance. A small platform is typically placed at the top of the pole for the sitter. Le...
It’s walking are you friggin kidding me not RUNNING IN THE SLIGHTEST. UTMB winners are slower than tortoises these just painful might as well eat 500 quesadillas while we are at it how about pancakes as well? Kipchoge would have the easiest victory of his life.
You can walk it if you think you can. It’s as pointless as running around an oval for some arbitrary distance. Some people enjoy, some people are impressed by it, but at the end of the day both do nothing more than provide entertainment for some and fulfilment for those who compete. Best of luck to your long walk ahead.

It’s WALKING Laz may chain smoke his way to 200 miles if he competed. Kipchoge would hit an easy probably 600 miles.
I've done Bigs Backyard. FWIW, no, you have to run parts of it to be able to make it. The day loops have about 400 ft of vert and the night loops are hill on the way out, uphill on the way back. There's no way to finish a loop within an hour with only walking.
But yes, it's a definite run/walk game and the running is no faster than a 10min/mile to be honest. I did probably 50/50 running but I also did my loops a bit faster than the people who made it longer...they were probably more 70% walking. It seems easy on paper but it's actually quite maddeningly hard - catches up with you after awhile.

Phil Gore just dropped out after over 4 days- he hit his head and couldn't walk straight. Insane.
5 people left. They all look they are still shuffle jogging when they go past the cameras.

He hit his head walking? Why didn’t he nap when his walk was finished?
Awake and going and still running (I suppose its more of a stumble than a run at this point) on what are NOT bike path trails. There's enough rocks where I would have bit it hard a looong time ago.
I'd like to see all the roadies who scoff at ultras make it even 24 laps, heck even 12... and these fellas are over 100. What an accomplishment for both Harvey and Ihor, incredible! How much longer will they go??
i think backyards are super cool bc they really level the playing field amongst age/talent levels etc.. it's cool to have a format where preparation & willpower play such a huge role. Go Harvey!

Watching them hype up Ihor here and you can tell he is so out of it right now.
They have to be at a point far beyond just hallucinating 4.5 days in. The fact they can't finish a loop with 10-15 banked time, then start the next loop late to get in 20-25 minute power naps makes it even tougher.
These guys are both roasted. They actually might be at a point where they can keep going because they are so mentally not there that they are clearly hallucinating through this. The interaction Ihor was having with his team was scary. He is not there at all.
