Two runners dropped off their medals at Fleet Feet to be engraved. One was big 5773 and one was 57731. 57331 wanted Fu** put on her medal. 5773 wanted her time put on her medal which also was autographed by Des Linden.
So now the medal literally says "FU** Des Linden"!!! I think the other runner knew exactly what she was doing conjugating that together and wants her medal back.
Though in fairness, wanting "f**k" engraved on your medal doesn't seem to be about pride in performance. Maybe the opposite.
I once temporarily washed out of the top group, and then medaled in a JV race, and threw it away in disgust. It was like being crowned king of the losers. No thanks.

I don’t see where in the article it implies either runner did or did not want their time on the medal, rather it reads like both either wanted it or would’ve been fine with it, and if so, 57331 could just get Des’ signature chemically washed off and be fine with her medal with the F-word like she wanted and her correct time.
5773 doesn’t have an immediately happy solution but can always get Des to sign it again if she’s that ga ga about Des.
