He’ll probably race one in spring before the Olympics coz he’s been racing two well spaced apart marathons, one in spring and one late summer or fall, every single year except 2020 since he started in 2013.
Berlin will look silly at this point, so probably Tokyo or London unless he isn’t scarred enough by Boston to brave it.
What marathon will he run next? I want him to get the sub 2 hours WR.
The Olympics are in August. My guess would be Tokyo since it’s in February and gives him the longest time to prep for Paris. I wouldn’t be shocked if he chooses London (bigger appearance fee, prize purse), but the turn around in 4 months isn’t as easy when you’re almost 40 yr old.
he's getting old, or rather he IS old. if he values the WR above olympic medals, he may choose to run london. obviously won't be able to run berlin. maybe he does olympics and then valencia.
Seems silly for him to continue chasing WR/sub 2 when Kiptum is (so far at least) on another level. I’d rather Kipchoge attempt Boston again, although this would allow slightly less recovery time between his spring marathon and the Olympics. I imagine it would do his confidence some good as well if he is able to have redemption at Boston before running the hilly Paris course.
depends on what he cares more. winning championships or holding the WR. he's getting old and missing the WR and then losing his WR this year was a huge hit considering that it will be months before his next marathon and it is getting more doubtful that he still has a WR run left in him. if i was him, i'd just finish off his career at the olympics.
