Why try and predict it before we even know who will be there? I guess you could look at which regions allow and historically have runners do both NXN and and Footlocker.
So probably mostly some of the top Midwest runners since the timing works out for them.
I went through the boys Dyestat top 50 list (ranked plus waitlist). If all of them take the approach of trying to qualify for either NXN or Footlocker and taking the NXN deal if they qualify (bird in the hand), here is who could still do Footlocker.
Footlocker West teams (NXR Cal, NW and some SW runners) plus NXR Northeast and NCR New York have to choose between NXN and Footlocker.
This means 30 of the currently top 50 boys could do both. 20 have a conflict.
Top 5 “both” boys are Grevious, Shively, Todd, Koon, and Scott, per current Dyestat rankings.
Both Hedengren and Leachman crushed Engelhardt (and others) at Woodbridge.
No, I didn't miss them. Hedengren said that she won't be running Footlocker. And Leachman said that she is definitely running NXN, and said that there is only a small chance that she will also run Footlocker.
So that's why neither one made my top 10 list for Footlocker. You have to be in it to win it.
California girls are a ton better this year than last. West Region sucked horribly last year.
Payton Godsey could also compete at FL
Yes, the California girls are better this year. But since the top girls at the California state meet automatically qualify for NXN, we'll have to wait and see which girls turn down that automatic invite and run the Footlocker regional meet at Mt SAC instead.
Sadie Engelhardt has run Footlocker the past two years, and I think she'll run it again this year. And Chiara Dailey and Gioana Lopizzo are both local San Diego runners, so I think they'll run Footlocker again too.
It kinda bums me out that there are two National Meets. I know this is not a new thing, and I see good reasons for them both. But, it obviously would be great to have all (or as many as possible) at the same meet. A little sad to not have Hedengren / Leachman there. Maybe they'll change their minds.
