Does anyone know how much Kelvin Kiptum weighs? I have seen a number of articles where his weight is listed at 65kg (~143/lbs) and his height at 5'11 but that doesn't seem possible. Has a marathon runner over 140 lbs ever run under 2h05??? Kipchoge is regularly listed at 5'6 and 115 which seems more reasonably bird like. My guess isn't at Kiptum weighs under 130lbs, but I would like to learn his real weight.
Article lists Kimetto 5'7 at 121lbs, Geremew at 5'9 and 126, and Bekele at 5'5 and 123. I know Bekele has struggled with his weight, and for someone to run 2 hours and change I'm struggling to believe that they could be over 140lbs even if they are, or claim to be 5'11. Galen Rupp for example at 5'11 usually has a listed weight of around 134, and he was, what, something like 8 minutes behind Kiptum?
Spoiler alert: the ideal marathon runner body for you is your body! The full spectrum of body types can run marathons, but, that being said, the ideal marathon runner body for the pros is slightly

I believe I have stated on here most elite Marathoners are less than 2.05 pounds per inch. K Kiptum at 71 1/2 inches and 143 lbs. is a fine height to weight ration for a Marathoner.
I'm 5'11 143lbs and I look like a fat f*ck, I refuse to believe Kiptum weights the same.
Except for the occasional sub-3:30/sub-12:55 1500m &/or 5000m athletes plus the occasional combat sport athletes who post here, most on here do not have elite low body fat.

Idk, I’m about 6’2 and genuinely don’t think I could make it to 140 lbs without dying or dealing with serious serious health issues. There’s not a lot of me left when i’ve gotten to 150. I do have a wider frame though. I had a highschool teammate that raced at 6’1 135 lbs and he was VERY skinny. Like definitely noticeably skinnier than Kiptum. Similar BF% but he had significantly less leg muscle (somehow).
Obviously being able to get to an unnaturally low weight/ BF% while still maintaining heavy training and good race performances is part of what makes a world class marathoner talented, but I’d be really surprised if Kiptum is less than 135 and I bet 140-143 is accurate.
I also doubt you look anywhere near fat at 143 5’11. Doesn’t that make you mildly underweight by medical standards? I’d wager you probably don’t have much muscle mass nor much fat mass right now, but enough of a lack of muscle and just enough fat that you don’t look super toned. Kiptum may be rocking with 5-7 lbs less of fat and 5-7 lbs of muscle more than you which will make a huge difference at 140ish lbs.

I looked fat even at 125lbs
I have no muscle at all, but I have tons of fat on my thighs, love handles and glutes.
I hadn't realized that Mo Farah's marathon weight was only 118 lbs after training in Kenya. Although Farah claims his height is 5'9, I don't think Kiptum is much taller.
Is 118 too light? What's the weight for most of the top guys in the world? "Word before yesterday’s race was that Mo had dropped about four pounds in body weight – down to 118 lbs.now — as he increased his mileage during his...

walked by kiptum a few times and i was thinking about this same thing...
5'9" 125-130 is i had to put $ on it.
Same. I’m 5’9 3/4” and 138 lbs. I got a picture with him on Sunday and I’m looking at it right now. He is slightly shorter but noticeably thinner than me. He can’t be more than 130, probably closer to 125.
They're most likely actually 5'9.5" instead of 5'11". Most people are off by 1-2 inches on their guesses or haven't done a barefoot measurement. I'm just under 6'1" and it's hilarious how many people think I'm 6'3" or taller.
