The birthdate and high school make sense and the picture seems to match. No mention of running though. Anyone have more info on this? Scott won the 1987 California State Meet 1600m in 4:07.9, narrowly edging Paul Thomas.

Oh wow, he was born on the same day as me. I grew up in San Jose and only vaguely remember his name. That he won state 1600 somehow didn't get logged into my long term memory. RIP.
That was one helluva race in 1987 and you can watch it here:

Yeah he passed away a few years ago.
Any other info?
His school, Bellarmine Prep is expensive, but the Gofundme was for funeral expenses. Odd, right? And the cause of death is unclear but an aunt alluded to it being a disease that was known in the comments.
Not a lot of reports about his passing. No wife (or partner), no kids, lived in San Fran. Did he run after high school?
I was there, saw that race. RIP.
While I knew Scott passed away, I am now just seeing this.
Scott was great. every year or so we would rehash how he beat me at the CIF meet and how we would have a rematch at age 52!
Scott was funny, caring and simply a great guy!

Wasn't terribly expensive. Catholic high schools generally aren't. To the other guy, didn't live in San Francisco (not that it matters). Was a teammate of mine and an awesome guy. Broke his foot in the summer before his freshman year at Cal and never totally returned to form. Partly injuries, partly moving on to other stuff. Aunt said nothing about an underlying disease, and I've heard nothing about that. We have all thought it was a heart attack or stroke.
