Kerr is great at peaking. It has now made him world champion, and no one can take that away from him. But the rest of the 364 days in the year I don’t think he even is the next guy. Maybe the third or fourth.
Does J Kerr own a home in Oregon? If not, traveling to Eugene is not easy. Unless a gal or guy lives in or near Eugene and owns acres of land, why travel to Eugene, Oregon?
Everyone on this thread cutting down J Kerr for not planning on racing in Eugene are J Ingebrigtsen fanboys.
I stated over a year ago, Timothy Cheruiyot should never race J Ingebrigtsen again in a 1500m race with pace lights and paid pacers. I now say J Kerr should never race J Ingebrigtsen again in a 1500m race with pace lights and paid pacers. If J Ingebrigtsen wants to race T Cheruiyot and J Kerr again in non-championship races, J Ingebrigtsen should let the men know he will race them in 800m or 1000m races.

Let's be honest, if Jakob was not sick he would be unbeaten this season
I don't think that anyone disagrees that Ingebrigtsen is the best in the world. Pretty obvious. He will be the best ever (1500-5k) very shortly. That said, Kerr is a helluva runner at 15/mile. Deserves credit for that. That 3:47.9 today (easing off in last 30m) was a great effort. Yes, it's net downhill, but still a great mark.
I don't see why people care that Kerr is ducking Ingebrigtsen. It was Jakob's job to beat him at Worlds, which he did not. No-one thinks that Kerr can beat Jakob in a Diamond League anyway so being mad at him not attending seems pointless. The same thing was true last year: Wightman (who actually wasn't ducking because he was focusing on the 800 after Worlds as he stated before the season began) was hounded for not hopping into races with Jakob when those people hounding him all know he'd lose them anyways. Why are people desperate to see Jakob get "revenge"? If he wanted revenge this year then he should have won the 1500, "sick" or not.

Are we angry with him? I’m not even a little bit surprised. But I think it would have been good for the sport if Kerr hadn’t ducked. This sport needs every rivalry it can get. It also needs athletes like Jakob and Josh, that actually says something is interviews.
Furthermore a Diamond League rematch at this point literally means nothing as no-one thinks Jakob isn't the most fit runner, but he clearly has a weakness in championship style racing in the 1500 which obliterating everyone in a Diamond League field does not address. It is pure ego massaging at best.

He said he was going to run Zurich to qualify for the DL Final and he took exception to being called the next guy. So you expect him to do what he says as well as act on taking offense. Anyone can see the excuse that Zurich took too much out of him is non-sensical. Ultimately he already won, but he should’ve just from the start made no mention of Eugene. You can repeat this same narrative when he skips the home indoor worlds in Glasgow.

It's just an observation and fun to discuss, I don't think anyone really cares that much. I also truly believe Jakob could not care less whether Kerr is there and would do his thing with or without Kerr.
