Wiley is back in the US, and said she had one more race on her Instagram story. The only big race in the US that I can think of is the Diamond League final which I’ve heard they take one American as a wild card. I don’t think she would take the mile spot over Hiltz or Cranny. But she might take the wildcard 800m spot since I haven’t seen Rodgers or Mu race since Budapest and she has a faster 800m PR than Akins.
I mean what other race could she run other than the Diamond league final? I hope it’s not a xc race lol.
For diamond league wild card the 1500 should slot to Hiltz (US Champ), McGee (World Finals) and Johnson (World Qualifier) in that order. USA teams mean something and all three of those women have had good to solid years and have beat Wiley when it mattered.
For the 800, Mu and then Roger and then Akins for the same reasoning. All three in World Final. Sorry, Wiley's 1:57 in a perfect time trial race where eight women went 1:58 or faster doesn't trump any of that and not even close. If Wiley gets into DL final, it would be wrong on so many levels and there would be five to six women (and their agents and sponsors) calling it out.
It almost seems like the DL is acting as an enabler. It is crazy how negative the reaction has been to AW. The sport in general is dirty at this level. Maybe they do not care. But everyone else following the sport sure seems to.
Who ever it is, they are not doing her any favors. Outside this echo chamber fans and athletes are disgusted. It is not exactly hard to see what is going on.
Clearly someone with clout is working on her behalf to get her into the diamond league circuit.
She certainly capitalized on her opportunity. Assuming, she has no agent, someone helped her get a spot in Brussels. Usatf likes her since she has a passport and was happy to do u20 and nacac.
Agree others are ahead of her, but perhaps they turn down entry.
Her naia xc season will be interesting. Last yr she was 2nd, this year she can probably win even if she only did base building in xc season.

?
She’s the fastest young runner in US history (by a lot) and she is in peak form now.
I think she deserves the wildcard
I have never seen so much negativity regarding a US runner. I hope for her sake that she indeed takes PEDs. Sven Rupp does not get as much negativity
She also hinted at other “details and updates”. If she is making the trip to Oregon, she is probably gonna stop by Nike HQ, sign her contract, and make her Nike debut on Bill Bowman’s backyard.

“She, along with Mary Slaney, are the only two women in U.S. history to run an 800m in sub-1:58 and covered the 1500m in sub-4:00. However, Wiley’s doing is even more impressive, seeing that she accomplished her feat within a four-day span, and Slaney did so in two different years.”
Addy Wiley of Huntington University and the USA set a collegiate record in the 1500m at the Memorial Van Damme Diamond League meet in Brussels on Friday.

Boo hoo. I mean Mu may not even be interested and really, as much as I like the other two, really, what are they gonna do at the DL final?
I feel like Wiley has less claim to a 1500 spot but I also feel our 1500 squad is more unimpressive than our 800 squad and certain to remain unimpressive in terms of international competitions of note like the upcoming DL final. Just telling like it is. Neither Hiltz, McGee, nor Johnson is any sort of factor for the DL final or in any sub 3:58 race. Wiley might not be either but she also might. At least there is a little uncertainty. Its totally certain that Cory McGee is going to run 4:01. That is as sure as the sun rising and God bless her, I really like Cory. She has and continues to make the most of her talent.
I'd give it Cory slightly over Wiley for one spot in the 1500.
