As a daily mileage shoe?
As a daily mileage shoe?
It's fine, but no better than the Saucony Triumph or NB 1080. I just buy whichever is cheapest
I liked the first version, but it seemed to bottom-out after about 400ks.
The 2nd version was awful. The upper made my feet hurt, despite never seeming to hold my feet in place - and the foam caused a weird chafing sensation in the bottoms of my feet (like the foam was too soft, and my feet were constantly moving around over it).
I haven't tried the third version (and I'm not going to), but Nike daily trainers in general seem to be falling behind other brands.
this is an amazing shoe. Love using it for long runs and medium long runs during the week. I rotate it with the Nike Pegasus 40.
I have versions one and three. I liked v1 for everything from easy pace to just slower than marathon pace. It worked great for long runs and the fit was good. I have 500+ miles on them.
I've only run in v3 once for an attempted long run. The bottoms of my feet felt enough discomfort that I shortened the run by 30%. I also experienced lots of heel slip. I'm not sure, but maybe in an attempt to get a better lockdown using the runner's loop, I had the upper cinched down too much. Problem with the heel slip never fully went away though so I hesitate to change the lacing. Things might sort themselves out though with more break in. I had high hopes for this shoe even knowing about the heel slip issue before purchase.
v2 fits well and is a good sturdy shoe. v3 fits me a bit wonky out the box but after a few days I don’t get the heel slippage problem that seems common with v3. It is a decent shoe but I don’t love it I wouldn’t recommend it
Way too much cushioning
v1 was great. Then it's like ZoomX got nerfed at Nike across all their shoes and made much firmer (maybe to extend durability?). v2 had ridiculous padding all over it, except where it needed it (the midsole), which was more firm, almost like React. v3 was better from a softness and last / structure standpoint, but still firmer than v1, and can almost pass for a normal looking trainer.
I've switched to the Saucony Triumph for junk miles. The 21 is out and you can get the 20 for well under $100 now. 500+ miles, easy.
