Just watched the video, last 800 in 1:56-1:57 with a sub 57 last lap. Looked really strong and I was impressed with his slight acceleration those last couple of laps with no one to push him. Great run
He won by 3.5 seconds. That's roughly 25 meters, right?
Time can't be equated to distance, even roughly, unless you're talking parsecs
Grant took the lead at 2k when the final rabbit dropped out.
His lead going into the last lap was more like 40-50 meters . . . Grant closed in approx 57 . . . but great last lap by Brian Fay (maybe 54-55) to break away from former WA teammate Kieran Lumb to close the gap down about 3.5 secs.
Give Grant his dues for actually running this race . . . after his Zurich 5k he could have easily bagged this meet due to inferior competition . . . to prepare for the DL final in Eugene . . . but he kept his word to the meet director.
No questions now . . . Grant sure knows how to close out a season . . . whether he's been injured (this year) or not (last year) . . . fascinating to see what he'll do next week.
Grant Fisher destroyed the field in the men's 3k in a meet record 7:33.32 at the Continental Tour Rovereto. For more Continental Tour coverage, visit: https:/...
Nur is no fisher... he put up a really impressive final 1k at usas this year but he hasn't run 12:46 26:33 like fisher. Fisher placed as high as 4th or 5th several times in championship races, no other american track athlete currently competting can say that, discounting Chelimo.
god Fisher is so good I didn't realized how much I missed him this season until he ran that 5k. Looks like he's definitely over his injury, and this kind of fitness bodes really well for the Olympics next year.

Closed the last 16 in ~ 3:56-high. Yikes.
Not too shabby for a guy with a major disruption in training just six weeks ago.
