Watching worlds made me appreciate what a talent Grant Fisher is. The only American distance runner who can compete at an international level. Happy for him to be healthy and throw down at some fast races soon.

in a just world, we would have Fisher and Grijalva running for our flag.

Yeah I don't want to hear crap again about Klecker/Kincaid running fast at BU in January. Its a different ball game to be competitive in a World final and only Fisher has (Plus Chelimo but he is looking old). Bummer he was hurt this year, no Kiplimo I think would have set him up well with a shot to medal in the 10,000.

USA!
Too much politics surrounding the DREAM act for this to ever happen. Unfortunate, because he's a great athlete and would be a great representative for the USA.
0/10 troll job, you could have set yourself up better.
Could you please define what a troll job is? I am writing the truth as I see it. Am I still a troll? Does disagreeing with the majority automatically make one a troll? I honestly don’t understand what it means to you people. Can one be completely himself and honest and still be a troll?

Grant doesn't have to set any new PBs to become more competitive. He does probably have to be more fit, than previously, but faster PBs don't win medals necessarily. See this year's 5000m at worlds.

this gets 13-1 upvotes and Hocker sitting there like: I know, f uck me right?

Of course he doesn’t have to run faster than 12:46 and 26:33 to be more competitive but the year he ran those times he didn’t medal and he will only be getting slower from now on so I guess it will be a magic trick. But this is what I mean by the low IQs you people possess.

USA!
US is so competitive that a talented runner like Cooper Teare or Emmanuel Bor or Connor Manz would just never make the team
Define distance and probably specify male. His best ever finish is one spot ahead of where Nuguse and Monson finished at Worlds this year.
He's good, but still odds are he finishes his track career with fewer global medals than Moh Ahmed. Probably a good comparison tbh - Ahmed shows the level of consistency you need to have to get lucky and medal:
2016: 4th in 5k
2017: 6th and 8th 5k/10k
2019: 3rd and 6th 5k/10k
2021: 2nd and 6th 5k/10k
2022: 6th and 5th 5k/10k
2023: 7th and 6th 5k/10k
That's 11 top 8 finishes in 6 major champs over 7 years and he still "only" got two medals out of it.
Right now Fisher has 3 top 8 finishes since 2021. Like Ahmed he needs to keep showing up in that form and hope one or two years others falter.
The disadvantage Fisher has is that he is American and has to fight harder/peak earlier to ensure he makes the team while Ahmed winning Canadian nationals was a 14minute formality most of those years meaning he only needed to worry about 100% peak for worlds/Olympics. Actually, Ahmed hasn't actually raced at nationals since 2019.

Yeah, but why do you all have to be such buzzkills in sport. Yeah, even if he doesn't get a global medal, he objectively did better than any other American in the Olympics and Eugene in terms of 5K and 10K performances. He might not ever get a medal but possibly neither will any other American this decade

Was just comparing him a) to two other American distance stars - Monson and Nuguse. Very curious to see how Nuguse would go in a slower champs style 5k. And b) to another North American athlete and teammate in Ahmed.
Just saying I don't think the cupboard is super bare looking down the road. 5th in the 1500m and with a 7:28 3k in his arsenal bodes well for the 'Guse
