Dude is getting real good. Would not be surprised he's running 8:05 next year and medalling
He’s got a shot. It’s a tough event with 2 guys so good. The Kenyans are young and on the upswing, so with the Kibiwot fall this might’ve been the best opportunity for someone in 8:05 type shape. But Beamish stands to improve. It’ll just be incumbent that Bett and Koech aren’t getting close to 8-flat next year.
I agree. Beamish is definitely built for the championship-style steeplechase race, but the last time the Kenyans did not have someone on the podium in the Olympics was Tokyo 1964 (that they did not boycott). He definitely has the potential to medal, but Koech gained some championship racing experience here and will definitely be better next year (I think he will be sub-8 in a Diamond League). I'm wishing all the best for Beamish, but the event is so competitive right now it is hard to call who that third medal will be.
Do think he's gotta learn some timing. He was flying near the end. Was 10th with 800 to go and seems he waited too long. Could have been a few seconds better today.
Soufiane El Bakkali added a repeat World Title in the steeplechase to add to his Tokyo gold medal in the same event, giving him a global championship in the ...
Agree^ and I probably didn’t give Kibiwot enough credit. Without the fall he was probably running his best steeple ever? Even with it, to run 8:11 and hold off Bett was impressive. He was closer to the top 2 than I expected thinking if anyone would be it’d be Koech.
WATCH OUT WORLD THERE IS A KIWI OUT THERE FLYING THROUGH WATER PITS THROWING DOWN THE LAST LAP BE READY FOR HIM
Absolutely super race for the Beamer! Considering he's only been doing the event for the last 4-5 months (and it's a technical one at that) it's all the more impressive. Definitely a medal contender for Paris!

Medal Contender??? Distance Running NZ have already awarded him the Gold Medal.
The article says best ever track performance by a male, whereas as you said better than anyone from NZ at WC's ever. So the attached link is factually correct whereas you are completely wrong.
