She was never going to be beaten unless a fall. Bad strategy from Hassan, the pace wasn’t fast in the first 800 (2:12) and she left too much ground to cover in the last 500m off an already super fast pace (58). That made the difference between bronze and silver at the end.
She's lucky Hassan had a marathon a couple months ago, came off a 10k 2 days ago, and was wrapped in bandages from taking a hard fall. Kipyegon would have had no answer to a fresh Hassan kick.
Faster than what most posters on here can do on fresh legs
That's amazing that world class athletes are far better than fans that follow the sport. I also heard that there's a bunch of NBA players that could beat the fans on letshoop.com with one arm tied behind their back! Shocking stuff!
And Sifan w/ second fastest closing lap but got third bc of her crap positioning going into the final lap. Same thing with 10k. How disappointing as a Sifan fan
Hassan is not in Faith's category. Two races and one Bronze (should have gotten Silver in the 10k). Hassan ought to avoid the 1500,where she cannot win, and focus on the other two events. She might win one of them.
Yeah I like Hassan and I admire her commitment to the sport and just going for it.
She smashed the London marathon which makes me think she would be better focusing on the longer events. 1500 is so competitive at the moment. She doesn’t have a chance at gold and clearly can’t really pace it to a silver. I don’t love her hang out at the back tactic - she needs to move towards the front sooner.
