This might affect my letsrun contest predictions. Don't know what medals to give her. She's practically a medal lock in the 10,000, probably the 5,000 too, not sure about the 1,500 with her foray into the marathon this year.
You know, she’ll probably prove me wrong, but I only have her taking silver in the 10k and not medaling in the 15 or 5k. Beatrice Chebet will be fresh for the 5k and she beat Hassan in London. Then there’s Tsegay and Kipyegon, one of whom beat Hassan in London and one of whom set the WR this year, who will both be fresher than Hassan.
Smart move, for her future results! They need to know more precise where she's at, with the combination of multiple events in a short period, this WK is her chance, the results will make a good training schedule for her coming year, especially if they want to add the marathon or combine it at Paris 24. So this time it's not about winning. Love that. Of course are Gidey, Tsegay and Kipyegon going to win. So what. Let's approach athletics with more fun.
How on earth is she going to make it through Chicago after this? There’s crazy good and just plain silly, and this is borderline silly.
Anyway, your assessment is rationale, just silver in the 10. Being a Hassan fanboy, I’m hoping she pulls out a gold in the 10 and can manage a medal in the 1500 or 5. If she’s does that it will have been an amazing meet for her. I think a fresh Hassan would beat Chebet in the 5000 in this meet, but now, I agree it will be super hard for her to manage it. So it’s my hope, not a pick. Maybe Hassan will be better able to recover the. Tsegay after the 10? Is recovery her super power? Anyway, in the 1500 there’s just too much youth and speed out there for her to handle. Ok, my fanboy picks are gold in the 10 and bronze in the 5 and 4th in the 1500. Oh, and for Gidey, I still think Hassan can out kick this year her in both 5 and 10. Is Gidey doubling for sure?

It's hard to predict. I view it differently. I view her as a medal lock in the 1500 but think her best bet for gold in the 10,000. But it's possible she doesn't medal at all, particularly in the 5000 where there will be 5 gold medallists.
Draftkings lists Hassan as the second choice in the women’s 1500 (+650/ 13.3% implied win rate), and the third choice in the 5,000 (+800, 11.1% win rate) and 10,000 (+350, 22% implied win rate).
In stark contrast to how two of America's top female track stars seemingly have to be begged to compete in a single event at the World Championships, the Netherlands' Sifan Hassan announced today that she will once again for...

My quibble here is discounting her in the 1500. I'd agree the 5,000 is probably a longshot. But in the 1500, I don't know if we're giving too much credit to the young Ethiopians, Mageean etc. It really is quite wide open, and I think the athlete most likely to be the closest to 3:52-3 shape is Hassan over anyone else. She has the highest ceiling and if Muir is a little off her game, there's really nobody completely reliable after Faith.
Very reasonable picks. Mine are more about being a Hassan fan than a dispassionate analysis. Even if I’m not picking as a fan, I still have Hassan out kicking Gidey in the 10 and I think the marathon version of Hassan can’t actually run sub 3:55 and does not medal in the 1500. Picks for Chicago now too?

I wonder why do think she'll be so slow in the 1500? She did run 3:58.12 (60.07 last lap after 29:37 for 10K the night before) just 6 weeks after London, and has had 11 weeks to sharpen up. It might be a different story if she was really laying groundwork for Chicago in that span, but by all indications she is intent on being in full track mode. She bets on herself (crazily of course) to figure it out in the Marathon with an abbreviated, partial buildup.

Oh, I'm a fan, definitely! But Sifan seems less cared this year to win, what makes me hinge more to the all-round results. Kipyegon is def. a machine now, Tsegay as well. They want the medals. Different goals. Chicago, no clue. How hilly is Chicago and who applied already?

Flat as a pancake. Chepngetich, Jepkosgei, Dibaba, Sisson….
I love her. will be fun to watch her perform well through three events, but expectations will be tempered. even if she is in 2021 shape, the competition is much stronger right now.
God bless Siffan Hassan. My favorite athletes are always those who thrive on the competition.

I guess I can’t wrap my mind around what she’s doing in training. For Hassan a 3:58 with 60 last lap is the default, but that’s a long way to 3:54 with a 59 last lap after the 10 and while she’s sort of thinking Chicago. I think the latter is required to medal.
Flat. Ok, better chances! But, don't see Sifan with the first 3, purely because too short time after Budapest. She joking in an interview that Tim will have a problem, when she can't perform in Chicago, because of the heavy load in Budapest.
