After consulting with her doctors, she’s decided to withdraw due to a “minor knee issue” so she can be fully healthy for next year’s Olympics.
After barely racing all year, she scratches from the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS due to a “minor knee issue” so she’ll be ready for a meet 12 months in the future. Wtf.
I usually hate doping conspiracy theories but I wonder if she’s secretly fighting a violation that’s preventing her from competing at Worlds and this is her excuse in the meantime.
At least Bobby Kersee learned from the backlash to the Mu announcement and just made up an injury.
Hate this for the sport. I know the compressed post-COVID schedule is a lot, but it's a terrible look when major stars skip worlds. And Kersee's not doing his athletes any favors— if Mu and SML make serious runs at the world record next year, there's gonna be a cloud of suspicion around them because of stuff like this.

Could be that they saw how active the AIU was this year compared to past years and decided to skip town. Wonder if there is some sort of new testing protocol going on.
If she had posted this news on literally any other day I would’ve probably rolled my eyes and been like ok whatever get well soon.
But the timing of this, whether true or not, literally just gives “I tested positive and have a silent deal to not publish anything until the case is resolved”

The schedule is NOT a lot for a 400 or 800 meter runner. Especially when you’re bailing on every other race. This is awful for the sport. Was a huge fan. Now I’m rooting for Bol and Keely/Moraa

Exactly my reaction to that sentiment. How is it asking too much to be in top form once per year?
Curious timing. Two days ago we get the announcement that Shaunae Miller-Uibo is returning to defend her 400m world title, and now Sydney withdraws. Is Sydney scared to race Shaunae?
Just kidding. This is terrible news. Here’s hoping Britton Wilson can bring home the gold.
