There are guys on the internet claiming that the stars do not train with lots of cardio and that there are testosterone-killing foods. Of course it's click bait but does anyone on LRC know what these mysterious foods are? (Suggestions include: Eggs, Asparagus, Bananas, and so on.)
I have seen that men must eat meat and other protein high food for a good diet, and supposedly women are to eat salads and be vegetarians. Certainly some of that is total nonsense!
High amounts of estrogen tanks your testosterone. Some plants are very high in phyto-estrogens that have an estrogenic effect in the human body. These are plant defense chemicals that acts as a dose of birth control to bugs/animals that consume them. Women are recommended to consume phto-estrogens during menopause due to this. Here is a link that has foods high in phytoestrogen:
Some say soy/tofu lower a man's T level. I am a social scientist. I leave biology to the natural scientists. By casual observation, consuming soy/tofu may change a man's politics.
Here's a particularly good summation on the topic, and I hope it may not be behind a firewall (i have a subsription), but the last paragraph sums it up, and I quote it here:
"The bottom line is that for otherwise healthy men who are following a reasonably healthy lifestyle, fiddling with specific foods or the composition of the diet is not likely to make much of a difference on the testosterone score card. As Dr. Fantus of NorthShore University put it: “I don’t think there is a way to game the system to get really large increases by changing the diet.”"
That said, most of the articles I read did point to exercise and maintaining a normal body weight as means of boosting testosterone levels. Also, make sure you don't overly restrict fat intake, for that matter.
Yes I've also heard: eggs, asparagus, bananas are good for testosterone. Also heard: soy, tofu, and edamame tank it.
Only thing I can say for sure (based on when I had all symptoms of low T) was my sleep patterns were horrible and my stress levels were high.
Not a doctor, but I can confidently say from personal experience: missing REM cycles and high Cortisol levels are definitive killers of testosterone. If you can't manage sleep & stress, food doesn't matter much.

Although men and women are different, there are still many individual differences which makes finding the ideal diet for anyone almost impossible. Hopefully more people will contribute as much as you have (I read nearly every word of that long article and have saved it for later.)

You are one of two people who have given a 100% Contribution to this research thread.
Eggs, asparagus, and bananas have been on the lists of these weirdo HIIT, Strength-Training Only, and other assorted weirdos who do not believe at all in CARDIO!
(I've had friends, and I dare say that you do or will very soon, that relied only on Strength-Training regimens. That's fine, that's fine. But that will only work for the short-term. Many people who pursue fitness THAT way soon find themselves heart or other disease victims. We all need BALANCED exercise and diet regimens.)

PLEASE, if you have been sucker-punched by the strength-training and so-call star training individuals who advertise on the internet and TV against CARDIO, contribute a post to this thread.
Some phytoestrogens blocks the effects of estrogen
Soy actually lowers breast cancer risk
Red meat is actually high in estrogen and technically should be classified as a carcinogen
Plants foods high in fiber help clear estrogen
Correct soy actually has the opposite affect. Lots of misinformation going on in this thread. I am still amazed at how incorrect information from bad sources people grab from.
Regarding soy, I quote from a Healthline article earlier this year:
Healthline wrote:
What about soy? There is a common belief that regularly eating soy products like edamame, tofu, soy milk, and miso may cause a drop in testosterone levels.
One older rat study from 2001 seemed to show that consuming phytoestrogens significantly decreased testosterone levels and prostate weight (27Trusted Source).
However, more recent human studies have found that soy foods had no effect on testosterone levels in men (28Trusted Source, 29Trusted Source, 30Trusted Source, 31Trusted Source).
While more research is needed to confirm, the belief that soy products affect testosterone appears to have been debunked.
Maintaining healthy levels of testosterone is important for gaining muscle mass, improving sexual function, and boosting strength. Here are 6 foods that may lower testosterone levels.

I always see that guys video but am not gonna pay to learn his “secrets”. But nothing that’s good for you is bad for you! Sure 100 mpw will surely have an effect on testosterone but will 30-60 minutes 3 x week ? No way!

He is a young idiot, much like the old idiot who throws a treadmill into the trash. Sure for short term which is Hollywood he may be right, but he also "may be crazy, but it just might be a lunatic you're looking for."
