22.88 in the heat but slower in the final for the second consecutive year.
It wasn't much of an upset. Tasa Jiya has finished ahead of Bol 3 of the past 5 years in the nationals 200 final. They have alternated every time.
Jiya is so much faster than Bol out of the blocks. And that's what decided the race. Jiya in lane 6 ran right past Bol in 7. The outcome was already decided on the turn.
My man didn't even look at the wind. +0.8 m/s in the heat, -2.2m/s in the final. But I take it that you're a distance fan and aren't familiar with those terms. Anyway, this is basically like Karsten running a 20.6 high or so at his nationals. Not a big deal, they're 400mH specialists anyways.

Bol's 22.8 in the SF was a very good, relaxed run. Note it was cool and with light rain, and the Breda track is not a fast Mondo surface.
The final had that -2.2 wind as was mentioned. It equated to around 22.81 so two very good races under her old PB effectively.
On a better track and in warm conditions, that would have been at least 1/10th faster. I think she is in high 22.6 form in reality.
Jiya, the winner in 22.77, showing she could run 22.5. She is another 6 footer like Bol & Klaver, and amazingly muscled/conditioned. She has an outside chance to make the final in Budapest.
Bol is going to do something special at Worlds in the 400Mh......
I still don’t see her breaking SML’s world record.
The Dutch should have a very good 4x400 team. Since SML and Bol aren’t racing each other in the 400h, I would love to see them anchoring their relay teams in a close race.

Likely won't be close when Bol gets the stick. The Dutch other legs after Bol and Klaver might split low 51's, US has too much depth. They can definitely get silver and go under 3:20 however.

Once again for some reason indoor times don't seem to matter. In February Bol ran 22.87 indoors which is obviously superior to anything outdoor 200 she's run, just like people seem to ignore her 49.26i WR which I believe is a sub 49 effort outdoors.
I will say that I have become a Femke-Fan. I knew very little about her a few years ago…and was certainly rooting for Syd. But since Syd’s WR she has been virtually invisible. This certainly makes it tough to be a fan…especially when someone has the ability to draw much more attention to the Sport and they don’t, nor do they help any of the event organizers or city’s that are hosting the events. One or two top names on the start list can make a massive difference for media, gate admissions, sponsors etc. it also brings much more attention to the other athletes attending the event.
So it is refreshing to see Femke out racing every few weeks and doing interviews win or lose. SHe seems like a sponsors dream. Anyway, it doesn’t mean I am rooting against athletes like Syd or Mu….but I will certainly be cheering for the Femke’s of the world!!
I think the best thing for her career and Track and Field is for her to run the open 400m against Sydney rather than obvious win in the Hurdles without Sydney.

I don't agree with that. Bol is just starting to tap her potential in the hurdles since switching her stride pattern. Why deny her the chance to reach her top end because SML switched. At 23 she has time to focus on the 400.
Personally I think SML is ducking. One Olympic Gold and one World Gold and she retires from the event?

Why is SML ducking? The 400 flat is historically been more competitive than the hurdles. She has nothing to prove in the hurdles anymore. She's trying a new event and it's fun to watch her progress. It's so hard to please a LRC user these days.
It would be nice to see them race…but certainly not on Femke to try and find Syd. She is running her best event…and why wouldn’t she…it is the World Champs…which I believe means a lot more to the Euros than it does the Americans.
