Let’s see. There are 2 rounds plus the final in the US Olympic Trials. The top 3 from the final move on to Paris. In Paris there are 2 rounds before the finals. So, in essence, there are 5 rounds to go through before the Olympic finals. So, yeah, if she can do that, she’ll make the finals.
She has consolidated her 4:03 PR with a few 4:05s. If she bumps down to 3:59, she would really be in the hunt. As it is now, next year brings all the usual suspects back plus St Purrierre, a more serious Mu and perhaps Hurta-K/4:01 and even Cranny/3:59. That means 1 step at a time; qualify, make usatf final, make us team. Then worry about Olympics
I would have said she’d make the Olympic team in 2024 but her 2023 final gives me pause. Can’t be a choker on the biggest stage. Look at Sydney and Athing for young talent making Finals.
I agree she is the future of the 1500 for the US. But for perspective, she finished 5th in the world U-20 this year. The race was won by Birke Haylom, who is more than 2 years younger than Wiley. Haylom has a 3:54 PR and might not even make the Ethiopian team this year. That's how strong this event is right now. Gone are the days when Morgan Uceny could be the #1 ranked woman in the world without even breaking 4:00

She didn't choke, very few were expecting her to make the team and 5th was a good performance in her first ever race at that level.
As to whether she can make the Olympic final next year, it's pretty unlikely but not impossible with another big leap. She's a huge talent by US distance running standards, but not a best in the world type talent like Sydney or Athing.

She's actually the alternate right now for the B-pest team.
Knowing what Cory McGee, Sinclaire and Nikki know about “the situation” they’d all rather show up to Worlds with a broken neck than give up their spot to Wiley.

Not a choke but very strange tactical error. Wiley secured a forward placed spot on the rail just behind Mu. It was perfect to track Mu all the way around. The pace was not beyond Wiley's capability. Then for inexplicable reason Wiley allowed one runner after another to pass her during the second lap. She spent too much energy trying to rescue matters on the third loop. And didn't have enough left at finish.
Wiley bemoaned her poor strategy in an Instagram post. It was particularly odd because she made many of the same mistakes during the U20 final a year earlier.
There won't be many scenarios where 4th is the equivalent of 3rd.

She is a young runner and needs to improve her tactics and learn to conserve energy in the heats. There was no reason to go all out to beat McGee to the line when she easily had her spot in the final secure. Mu smartly eased up and was the only one of the 3 to make the team.

Oops, got MacLean and McGee mixed up. Cory obviously made the team.
Extremely hard to say. Very promising young runner, but championship racing requires nerves of steel, smart positioning and an excellent kick. Pros with years of experience have failed to make finals because of a tactical mistake. Talent/times can't really predict how a runner fares in a multiround championship. Just making the US team would be quite an accomplishment. Top 6 would also be great.
