It seems like the app as well as the website only has this annoying interface to keep scrolling down and refreshing until you see the activity you want to look at, and there is no way to filter by date to access a very old activity; or is there?

It's easier on the app. You can go to activities and scroll the date range faster.
On the web portal it is a pain.
On the desktop version of strava, go to "Training" then "My Activities" then search by keyword. Or, sort by date, time, distance, etc. It shouldn't be too hard to find an old activity if it was unique in some way.
on the web you can go to the calendar, set it you year, quickly navigate to the date your are looking for and click on the activity from the calendar

Calendar page is definitely the way to go. If you're on a desktop/laptop browser, it's very easy to navigate.

Its problem though, is that you have to load the calendar page year by year. You can't jump from 2023 to say 2015. Annoying design.

Just change the year in the URL itself. I don't quite understand why that takes me to August 2015 but it's close enough

Elegant and smart, thank you.
