They improved so much in their 4 years in HS and are borderline pro. Another year of big improvement and considering that they are just talented AF to begin with, do you think its possible?

5K has a possibility of them getting the standard even if it is low. Getting to low 13:05 is doable if they are in 13:30 shape at this moment. Although if they are peaking for XC, its even less likely since they'd have to carry that over into trials in Feb/Mar/wheneverUSATFgetsofftheirass
Winning trials is even less likely with the usual suspects capable of 12:50ish times. That's a whole different realm from 13:05.
No. There are way too many pros with many more years of training and experience than L&L. Either you're trolling to get the L&L haters riled up or you're not very familiar with the depth that the US men have at 5000m right now.
Still, qualifying for the Olympic Trials would be a meaningful and reasonable goal for them. I don't know what the standard will be yet, but if it's in the 13:20-13:25 range then I don't see why they shouldn't go after that. Nico competed at the Trials after his freshman year of college, and looking back on it, was quite impressive: he made the final and placed 8th a couple weeks before his 19th birthday. Even if Nico is in good form next summer, I don't know that an 8th place finish would be a bad performance for him again in 2024, due to US depth at the event.

Agree with this. With the depth now in US 1500 to 10k, it's still amazing to me that guys like Hocker, Nuguse and Waskom manage to pull it off. Anything is possible, but they would have to become 12:50 guys to have a shot.
Why do so many people worship these guys? They’re pretty good HS runners who happen to have a social media following. They are nothing on the world stage. Wish them all the best, but this question was laughable.
It's possible assuming they can make the jump from 13:30 shape to 12:55 shape between now and June. Or maybe if they can manage to hit the Olympic standard (13:05?), and then a camera man is just standing out in the middle of the track like happened last year, and enough people get wiped out that LorL can kick their way to a top 3 spot.
It'd be a great season if they could make the final tbh. This year, the US had 12:51/12:54/12:56 guys and none of them even made the team. I think Nico has a chance next year, but that's mostly because he's training under The Mike Smith, an advantage the twins will be lacking. They are lucky with their ages though. If this year goes well, they could make the OTs, then they'll have a shot to make the 2028 team hosted in their hometown as seniors, and by the time the next ones roll around, they'll still be younger than some of the BYU kids.
The US is not as big a joke as you think. The only Young with a chance next year is Nico. He has a small chance at 5 or 10. Leo and Lex cannot carry Nico’s jockstrap. Not yet anyway.

So here’s the thing, I don’t want to trash on Lex or Leo because they’re amazing and are some of the best distance talents we’ve seen in a really long time. However, you basically have to be a sub 13 guy to make the 5k or 10k for the US next year. That’s just too much to expect from them by then.
They’ll both likely, get all American in NCAA xc and run 13:15-13:25 on the track next year. Which is fantastic but won’t scare Joe Klecker, Kincaid, Nur, Fisher, or even McGorty or Teare.
