I'm finally coming around to buying a second shoe for interval workouts.
I ran my last two halfs (march 1:28, may 1:27) in the vaporflies. They are incredible shoes but want to keep them fresh for my next race (looking to go sub 1:25 in an october half)
In the build up to both these races I did my distance runs and interval work in the New Balance 880. I love the shoe and it's never let me down.
But now im getting to the point where its difficult to find the right turnover for speedwork in the 880s. They are definitely a bit clunky.
I do 1-2 track workouts a week (5x1000, 4xmile, etc). I'm anxious to try a lighter shoe for fear of injury but in order to reliably hit splits I think I need something more agressive.
I was already looking at the NB fuel cell. I'm unsure if it makes sense to get a carbon plate or not for this use case.
Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks.
