Was he a last minute replacement for Hoare? Maybe he was just available and the lane was spare. Still, what a way to shoot your shot. Dropping his PB by 5 seconds in one race is pretty incredible, even if it was only enough for 12th.
An incredible PR and performance from him. Will he be representing Australia at world's now that he has the standard? Don't know how Australian selection works/ if there are already 3 selected.
As an American I really wish Hobbs had been in this race instead of whatever janky road mile...
Never heard of the guy but now he is up with all-time Americans like Leo Manzano, Cole Hocker, Jim Spivey and Alan Webb.
He just ran a PB faster than Cooper Teare’s. There has to be an interesting story here, as to what training, or other, he attributes to running 6 seconds faster than what he ran in NCAA outdoor this spring.

sponsorship rules . . .
Some of us do not understand. Who is his sponsor? Is this a rule just for the Diamond League? Was there a special circumstance that got him in the race in the first place?
The dude just ran well over 3 seconds faster than the fastest 1500m in the NCAA this year. You don’t think he’ll garner a six-figure pro contract?
Absolutely not. That’s not how it works. +\- $30k base with bonuses for teams, records, etc.
‘teams’? I thought the implication from the OP’s post was that this would help set him up for a pro contract, no? Does he already have a pro/NIL deal you are aware of?
