Not a chance. There hasn't been a sub-3:30 race for the last two years without Jakob. Nuguse wins in 3:31, Hoare second in 3:31-high, Cheruiyot 3rd, Gourley 4th. Not sure where Hocker will finish, but he'll probably run 3:33-high to 3:34-low
CHERUIYOT, Timothy 3:29.08 GARCÍA, Mario 3:29.18 HABZ, Azeddine 3:29.26 HOARE, Oliver 3:29.41 NORDÅS, Narve Gilje 3:29.47 NUGUSE, Yared 3:29.02
COSCORAN, Andrew 3:30.42 GILES, Elliot 3:31.56 GOURLEY, Neil 3:30.88 MILLS, George 3:31.54 TANNER, Samuel 3:31.24
HOCKER, Cole 3:34.14 MECHAAL, Adel 3:35.67 MCSWEYN, Stewart 3:32.85 STONIER, Matthew 3:33.45
The race will be won in 3:31.25.
- 5 of the 6 in the top group will finish top 6 (one moves down) - 3 of the 5 in the middle group will finish between 7-11. (one down, one up) - 1 of the 4 in the bottom group will finish top 8. (one moves up)
Watch out for the Norwegian runner Narve Gilje Nordås! Ran 3:29:47 in Oslo Diamond League. Secound fastest 1500m Norwegian all time, coach by the father of the Ingebrigtsen - Gjert!

I mean we’ll see, there was a 3:47 indoor mile with Nuguse. Cheruiyot ran a reasonably tactical/patient 3:31 in mid-May. Tim used to crank out sub-3:30s and him, Nuguse and Mario come in fresh. McSweyn probably brimming with confidence too. So it’s more about if someone pushes after 900 and the windiness. But in good conditions and if they had a second pacer I’d have no doubts about it.
No way Mcsweyn runs 3:28 either. What in the world?
We’re you under a rock when McSweyn paced Jakob for 1200m in 2:46 last weekend and looked fresh as a daisy?
That’s not what I saw, and I lean toward “what in the world?” for a 3:28 prediction. He led for less than 300m and managed to make it to 1200 in 2:46.9 (3:28.6 pace) but he looked to me like he was seriously rigging in his last 100m. 1200m in 2:46.9 in and of itself doesn’t indicate anything better than his 3:32.85 SB, I don’t think. I think he can run faster than that and possibly 3:30.xx, but I’d be shocked by sub-3:29.

McSweyn was one of two pace makers and the plan was never for him to lead the entire race but to take over when the other pacer dropped out. I stand by my 3:28 if it’s a fast race. Happy to eat several pieces of humble pie if I’m wrong. Not ego driven like many on here.

Were you under a rock when McSweyn paced Jakob for 1200m in 2:46 last weekend and looked fresh as a daisy?
No, I’m more than aware of his pacing duties. On the contrary, I think you’re unaware of the history of slower times at the London DL and completely out of touch with actual abilities of specific athletes.

Umm let’s see… this season Cheruiyot has run 3:29.08, Nuguse has run 3:29.02, McSweyn has a PB of 3:29.51 and in my opinion appears to be coming back into his very top form after helping pace 80% of a 1500m race a week ago which was won in 3:27.14. They are all are peaking for Worlds in a few weeks time. Yes you’re right. I am completely out of touch with their abilities..rolls eyes.

He was one of three pacemakers and I know he was the designated final pacer, I was just clarifying how he basically raced a paced 1200. It does look like it might be too windy for super quick times, so I doubt we’ll get an accurate gauge of his present ability in a 3:28-type race. I too will readily admit I was wrong if he runs sub-3:30, finishes top 3 or within a few tenths of the win, but unlike you I am ego driven 👍

I would stat prepping that pie now my friend. If McSweyn goes sub 3.29 I will run the masters race at NZXC naked next weekend
