Any songs you didn’t even begin to understand or relate to until years after you first heard them? Many songs I still don’t know what they mean, or maybe I have some vague notion of what they mean to me.
Oh that is a really good point. I posted a song trying to be nice... I guess I was completely wrong! What a shame that I misunderstood. So I would say maybe some of Erasures songs which are difficult to understand... I still don't get it... they are so complex.

It's hard for me to make out lyrics for seemingly most songs out there (a lot of vocals aren't clear like in many older eras), and I don't bother to look up lyrics for most things I hear on the radio. So in the rare cases that I do look up lyrics, I usually understand it vs not understand it.

"Mr. Tambourine Man" by Dylan. It took me a few years to realize it was about a heroin pusher.
Are you sure about that? In his 1985 Biograph compilation album, he claimed that "Mr. Tambourine Man" is not about drugs, and was inspired by a folk musician named Bruce Langhorne. Dylan seldom made any revealing comments about the meaning of his lyrics and many can be interpreted to have multiple meanings.
Blinded by the Light - you got me, what's it about? I have some hunches but not all the lyrics line up to fit one interpretation, at least not one i can feel confident of.

Winging it here- I'm going with a song about a groupie. I could explain at length but suffice it to say, blinded by the light is a reference to her being starstruck by the band in the spotlights, and just a ton of references to a rock band, adolescent desire, and sexuality. And the fact that the subject is female. And after all, "she got down, but she never got tight".
