- athletes in college have their school listed as their "team." This isn't a team competition anyhow but it's odd to see schools represented - sponsor is Toyota, a Japanese company (albeit with American subsidiary) - 1500 AR is listed as Bernard Lagat. Someone go tell that "Yared Nuguse AR" thread
McGee, Cranny, Mu, Wiley in heat 1 . . . if Mu is not ready for a tactical 1500, good opportunity for Wiley to move on to finals . . . while heat 2 looks the strongest with Johnson, MacLean and Helen S . . .
For the men, Nuguse & Centro in heat 1, Kessler in 2, Teare & Hocker in 3 . . . lots of big kickers in heat 1 including Thompson and WA boys Green & Waskom.
Even tho only 21 in both 10 fields, looks like all the heavy hitters will toe the line . . .
Women's 10k down to 20 competitors w/O'Keefe announcing withdrawl due to ankle staph infection . . . and very possibly 19 if Cranny advances in 1500 and scratches the 10k . . .
Keeping fingers crossed for Roisin Willis . . . in tough heat 1 w/Ajee & Raevyn & sub-2 Feldmeier . . . only 3 Qs/heat . . . hope she's recovered enough from her insomnia issues and in good spirits, especially following her recent New Balance NIL deal . . .

Lagat ran faster as an American before he revealed he was a US citizen so they counted that time.

Without doing a detailed analysis of current fitness, those heats seem a bit unbalanced and H1 is not the one I'd want to be in...

That's what I thought. 4 heats of the women's 800m, and 2 of the "big 3" both in heat 1? (Actually, they're the "big 2" this year, since Mu isn't in it).
Also, in a number of events, 1 of the heats has an extra runner (9 instead of 8, or 13 instead of 12). This obviously makes it more difficult to get a big Q (or in distance races even a small "q," since it creates more congestion), so I hope there's a methodically sound rationale for who they put in those heats.
Did USATF let 5 extra women in the meet to justify including Mu? target field size is 30 I believe but 35 entered. If so why isn't that being talked about more?

I'm really surprised that one of the women's 200m heats literally has the entire top 3 (Steiner, Clark, Prandini) from the finals last year. You'd think they'd separate them, but nah, just a literal rematch of the finals in a heat round for some reason.
This is why I didn't want Mu in the 1500 unless she is shooting for a team place. How does this help the other three who (presumably) are actually serious about this event?
