Star Oregon Junior, Mia Brahe-Pedersen has signed an NIL deal with Nike.
This makes her the first High School Track and Field athlete to sign an NIL deal with Nike.

Have there been other high school runners that have signed NIL deals with other shoe companies?
good for her, she is a superstar.
does this set her to commit to the top Nike track school, Oregon?

Goes pro after high school.

You are making things up.
Shawnti Jackson couldn't be the first high school athlete to get a NIL deal with Nike because Shawnti Jackson is no longer in high school.
Take your fake outrage elsewhere.

Nike already has Jackson because she's going to the University of Arkansas, a Nike school. No incentive for them to sign her yet.

I'm not the one who gave the NIL to the white girl and not the faster black one.

She was never in HS? Could never have gotten an NIL?

I think Nike sells a lot in the black community and that matters as that is the community that sets the trends on clothing, language, music, etc.

Who said I was outraged?
Just noting the obvious.
You are the one getting all worked up. You and all the other racists on this site

so basically you are saying Nike is racist. Good luck with that.
Nike isn’t racist - they employ a lot of POC (slave) labor, bringing jobs to the communities!
Its a strange pick to be sure. MBP doesn't have a lot of social media presence (then again a hser probably should not). Neither does lrc favorite Shawnti though. Maybe that is what nike wants. Someone who focuses on athletics in order to generate advertisement from her entire social media campaign going forward.
Anyways, I assume the NIL deal vice a pro contract is so MBP can continue to compete for her hs and keep open the prospect of competing in college.

1) MBP, who is a year younger, is actually still in high school and hasn't had essentially professional training as Shawnti has. Shawnti will have a pro deal anytime she wants it.
2) MBP V. SK:
11.0 v. 10.89
22.43 (unpressed)v. 22.70 (pushed by Hodge)
Both are great but based on history, MBP is much less developed with a bigger upside and a full year to improve while still in high school.
The obvious path for each in 2024 is for Shawnti to go pro and for MBP NIL.
