Bad form to allow this in a BMC meet. Not like this is an official time - or why aren't there male pacers in ALL the DL meets (that could go all the way as well)? If she had set a British record would it have counted? Do that in practice if you want, but it sets a bad example otherwise IMO. The public has a difficult enough time with wind-aided sprint times not counting for records. Just as Paula's Marathon time should not have counted many years ago. Women's only races have enough difficulty generating legitimacy, stunts like this just confuse things even more.

A bad example? How? For who? The public is illiterate, they will watch any event that generates buzz. The BMC is a stellar, storied organization. Fans just want to see Muir, the people's champion run fast. Just enjoy the show!

It's always been very common for BMC meets to have mixed races. Makes it easier for everyone - and particularly the best women - to find a competitive race to take part in.
Of course times achieved by women in mixed races won't count as records or towards qualifying for championships. And everybody knows this.

They aren't male pacers. They are solid club runners running their own races. Muir's time would not count for record purposes and it is noted in her results that his is a mixed gender race. It's a hard workout or TT for her, nothing more - accounts touting it as the "second fastest time int he world" are doing so for pure clickbait
Muir: "Time doesn’t count for anything official as it was a mixed race but a big confidence booster and felt strong so hopefully there is a faster time in the legs yet!"

I'm a man and ran in a mixed race with Suzy Favor-Hamilton circa 2000 in a super low key meet in Madison, WI. She was the only woman in the race and ran a 1:58 to finish mid-pack. It was early in the season and so it turned out to be the unofficial "world lead" at the time. Nice tune up for her and I thought it was pretty cool to be a part of it. Everybody wins.

It would not have counted as a UK record on the track
Paula's road time did count many years ago as mixed races used to be allowed on road as most marathons are mixed but now separated more by time each race sets off. There are now 2 separate records for mixed or separate races.
Race was probably just used to check her fitness plus practice tactics as the womens race was not fast enough. The general public will not have watched or checked the result for this race. Its a marker for her main target 1500m
Mu could run 1:57.low now, let alone when she’s at her best.
I don’t know how much it being a mixed race helped her necessarily. If she finished last by 3 seconds, why wouldn’t she run just as fast following Keely, Mu, or Moraa? Or trying to gap other world class women. She ran 1:56.73 in Monaco in 2021.
Between this 800 and the 3:57.09 she ran behind Kipyegon’s WR (which wasn’t ideal for Muir), in the right race she’s probably ready to run 3:55.xx. That gives her a great chance for her 3rd consecutive 1500 medal, since it doesn’t look like Tsegay or Hassan will be in the event in Budapest. As of now I’d predict Kipyegon-Muir-Welteji.
Jelimo feels like almost yesterday. Can't believe she was 15 years ago. Boy does time fly!
I still wonder about an 18 year old's ability to run 1:54.01. She had that one outstanding debut season in '08 - then bombed (comparatively) until a brief but unspectacular (again, comparatively) 2012 re-appearance. Doubt we will ever know what, if anything, was going on there.
