BTW, what has happened to Christian Coleman? Is it widely understood that he is off the juice since his suspension?
Don't be a nerd. You're talking about it. I'm talking about it. You started a thread. Why is that not good enough? He's British and this is an Americam website. What's your malfunction? You do realize it's Saturday afternoon and we're all at the beach. Can we enjoy a day outside without immediately responding to events 3000 miles away?
“British”. You don’t even have to be born there these days you become a Brit right when you arrive.
I can't quite work out the status of British Overseas Territories; are Anguillans also British citizens / passport holders? It seems as though the British Olympic Committee is 'responsible' for BOTs without NOCs; does that mean that Hughes had the right to qualify for the British Olympic team even if he had no intention of taking British citizenship? And could he compete for Team GB at the Olympics, while continuing to represent Anguilla at World Champs and Commonwealths? And why has Bermuda, also a BOT, got a NOC? And what's Shara Proctor up to these days?
Why are people on Coleman? He has had a better season than Bracy, DeGrasse and most of the 100m guys. He’s won a couple of races this season, beaten Lyles ran sub 10. He had a bad start because the hold was long, he was left in the blocks and he never recovered.
Also I think it's frankly despicable that people (not just on here, lots of comments on BBC whenever black athletes are posted) bag on people like Zharnel etc. for "not being British" when he was born in a nation that Britain literally colonised. It's not his fault that Anguilla didn't have teams for both Olympics and Worlds and it was practically his only way to be competitive. Irregardless of that, colonising a nation and then complaining about the results shows extreme hubris.

Ignoramus. Do your research before you allow yourself to type sh!t and make yourself look like a fool. The Letsaltright.com brigade seemingly never miss a chance to shoot themselves in the foot.

I knew she'd retired; was curious as to what she was now doing.
Anguilla *does* compete at the WAC and has done so since 1983. Shara was at both the 2007 and 2009 editions, finishing sixth at the latter. Her sister Shinelle took part in the 100m in 2011.
There's a lengthy and confusing Wikipedia article on the status of 'British Overseas Territories citizen', but it appears that regular' British citizenship and passport is there for the asking. But as Anguilla falls under the UK NOC umbrella, I'd love to know if someone holding a Anguillan BOT passport could actually compete for Team GB at the Olympics and for Anguilla at all other times.
Watch the race. WHERE did Hughes get that turnover?!?! The crazy thing is that for his start, his block position is wrong. He is leaving 0.10 on the table right there, and it is an easy fix… meaning that he could be 9.7
TURNOVER, holy crap it was as good as or better than Blake’s. He just went crazy.
idk what to think, you rarely see that kind of thing.
