definitely a good result compared to the last year, but Hobbs ran .5 faster today, and Teare ran 3:32 a month ago right behind Hobbs. Hocker looked great in the 1500 a couple weeks ago, but after today I think he's a close #4 in the US. The 1500 and 5k teams are gonna be brutal to make at USAs this year I'm so hyped

Not to denigrate Hobbs, but he ran 52.06/53.75, Hocker ran 53.38/52.97. Those are pretty close to equivalent performances in my book, as Hobbs ran efficient splits for a maximal time. Hocker's were not ideal. Not that it really matters at these margins for the 800 (and they both have the speed edge over Teare)...
I'd call 2-4 really too close to call, as Hocker is definitely gaining steam and getting to 3:31-2 shape like the other 2.
Hocker will be fine as he only has to drop in behind guys, do no work at all, and make his typical move with 250 to go. Guse and Kessler will have difficulty with Hocker's late rush, assuming fractions are slow. Teare ought to run the 5000m. I see this as he best event...3k/5k guy.
