If I could go back in time...I'd buy myself a couple dozen pairs of these when I still could...
Imagine I'm your old running pal and I just came out of a 10 year coma, a bit on the weak and chunky side (the nurses put candy water in my drip), and now I'm going back to running feeling like 36 years old still. But someone cleaned out my shoe storage so I'm in trouble now, the shoe markets has made a bigger transition than I have in that imaginary coma...
I used mine for mid distance track training and mild distance runs. Well, I used them for the very longest distances I was comfortable/willing to. Not a lot, I'm a big guy and former mountainbiker.
Rockets were great because they were snug and didn't move around under me. Peak effort speeds on track and grass were OK with these, and no other spikeless shoes I've ever tried. Under my US13 feet and big boy might, everything just slid around.
What do runners use on the track now? Can two inch stack height shoes be taken around a bend at full blast without rolling an ankle?
I intend to be a mid foot strike runner until someone convinces me otherwise. What can a big boy even buy that actually works, nowadays?
