Not sure if it's always been like this but over the past few years I've noticed that I stomp down on the ground and heel strike quite strongly. I don't think this is helping my form and I now think it is predisposing me to more injuries. I read about minimalism and fore foot striking but that seems like too much of a massive change, plus I have an injury in the ball of my foot so that is not going to work.
If I was to change to mid-foot striking would it be a positive change or does changing things like that dramatically just cause more problems as you are running or wlking in a way that is unnatural to you.
I don't want to go all of the way to fore foot striking but wondered if mid foot was a good compromise, so basically I try to land flat on the middle of my foot instead of hitting the ground first with my heel. But then I'm not doing a rolling "heel to toe" action which is what I was told was good. Should you change things like this or just leave them be. Thanks.
