I’m rising male junior with a 4:51 pr. My 400 time I only 59 and I run about 30mpw. I’m getting serious about the sport and this summer plan on getting up to 50-60 at a peak with strides and some easy workouts.
Next year I want to drop my mile time down a ton. Right now I can just tell I run differently than the top kids. When they run they float. When I run I more plod. When I race guys similar to my or they clearly have much more pop in their stride. They’re 800 and 400 times are significantly faster than mine.
I really think with mileage I can be a decent miler if I can work my 400 time down to 52-53 by the time I’m a senior. What drills and strength workouts can help me transform my stride from a plodder to a floater?
