Nothing about this seems odd? 10.08, 10.03, 10.10 at ages 23,24,26 and then 9.80 a month shy of his 27th birthday?
Now he's falling apart health wise because that's what happens when you take your body to a place it's not naturally ready/capable of - you can't stop or you crater.
And finally, this "oh it's because he was a long jumper and only started to focus on the 100m when he was 23" is the stupidest defence I've ever heard. So an average long jumper who never broke 8m outdoors (8.07 indoors = also mediocre) just decides to give the 100m go and becomes the OC. Yeah, sure.
His progression is suss and he already is a one hit wonder.
He might even be a really nice guy in person, but as a track fan, he is not what the sport needs. A rando who looks suspicious, snags the Olympic gold (from all the "real sprinters") and then drops out of the top tier completely. Didn't he get DLF at Paris last week?
I hope he can make a comeback and somehow show us that he is the real thing, but this was suspicious as can be...
Saw one of those Italian Atlas/Ursus/Hercules flicks. Got me thinking about Livio Burruti the cat with the shades and Italian sprinting. Startrd thinking we have seen the best of Jacobs already, yep a flash in the pan.
He hasn’t really topped any race besides the 60 meters after his olympic run
He is World champion in the 60 in 2022 and European champion last summer in 9.95. So he basically won everything but world champs last year since Tokyo.
So even if he seems that tokyo was his peak and he is declining since then, I wouldn't say he is done yet.
Euro title? Really? And indoors is not the most popular attraction for a multitude of athletes. Last I checked, the 4x1 was a relay with 4 people, can't claim one person won it by himself. Kerley was running top 400 times, didn't just come out of nowhere unlike Jacobs.
The World Indoors is second-tier competition in terms of sprints. The Euro is third-tier by that same measure. There are plenty of guys without serious international achievements that have won both.
