Daguinos - 3:40.15, 7:53.90, 13:15.26, 1:1:39. This 23-year-old French kid ran a superb half marathon in Lille on 19th of March 2023 in 1:01:39 and then just two months later ran a superb 5000 m in Oordegem, Belgium 13:15.26. He has speed and strength. New French Monster!!!
Munguti just PB’ed with a 3:34.06 Worlds Qualifier in Spain. Big sub-55 last lap though he just got pipped. I assume he’s pacemaking though, but that does bode well for him to make it to 2K in 5:00 potentially
Thanks for posting that. Ajee Wilson and Keely Hodgkinson in the 800M, Sydney McLaughlin in the 400M, Kipyegon and Muir in the 5000M. Will be interesting

Thanks for the update. Many potential pacemakers, some until 1600, 1-2 until 2000.

I think 2K in 4:55 is sufficient!
Then Jakob has to run the 3 last laps and just over 18 m in 3:01.50 to get the record. That is around 59.5 sec for each of these 3 last laps which doesn´t seem unrealistic.

That seems too fast to me. If they run 2018m in about 5:00 that would seem perfect to have Jakob run 60-second pace and then try to summon a 57-58 for the record

Prepare for a massive disappointment from SML. I would love to be wrong, but me thinks her coach is smoking crack this season with not allowing her to race.

Yeah, the article from TV2 Norway says he will go out consevatively and then run fast in the end if he has something left.
So it might very well be 5 minutes at 2000m.
IF he has something left I would prefer if he runs a rather fast 1000m and not wait for the last lap to increase the pace.

Or better 5 minutes at 2018m as you write.
And then he "only" needs to run the last lap in 58.5 to get the WB.
