Perfect for hobby joggers that train in super shoes.
Interesting that the author said that checking a watch breaks your stride, so advantage glasses. But then he said you control the glasses with hand gestures. Ok.
I feel it is quite likely to be annoying or distracting. When you run you want to focus on what is going on around you. I would rather see streams, fields, roads, or the track than anything artificial. When you go outside you don't want the internet to follow you.
There is a place for this technology but personally I wouldn't want all of that along with me on a run.
Not sure this is the first product of its kind. In 2020, there were Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns for a similar product called Ghost Pacer. Its main feature was an avatar running in front of you at a prescribed pace, but it also had data display functions. It was originally scheduled to be released in 2021, but that was delayed supposedly because of supply chain issues. Haven't seen much about it recently, but the company's website does have a 2023 date and there seems to be a related app available on Apple's app store.
But also the future. Mount a small camera and have the runner’s data available graphically, now track and road races can be covered like auto racing and cycling.

The Jetsons told me all about the future I need to know.
Casual fans don't like too much information. They need to streamline the sport, not add more facts and figures. We don't need runners heart rate on the screen too.
Yes, the data gathered from that would be good for several things, but not sure about having it blasted on a screen during a race. I would rather hear a good commentator talk about the history of the athlete or a bit more about the athlete personally!
