10000m time last year 31:55
That's fast. Wonder if she will go up in distance.
Apparently the all time 4th best European under 20 (after Budd, Sandell, Weyermann, ahead of Klosterhalfen).
She also led for most of the race (in a group of 4, Mismas and Lukan outkicked her in the last lap) as there was some pacing but it was too slow for Lukan who gets impatient around 1000m, Caune is also chomping at the bit around 1400, second pacer steps off around 2000m, afterwards Caune does most of the leading.
somewhat dark stream, 5000m race starts at about 8h 4 min.
She runs up to 10000m. Probably, will debut in half marathon later this year.
Her's endurance and running economy is crazy. 800m pb is just 2:10(2:43 per km), but she can maintain 3:02 pace for 5km.
How does this work again? Oh yes. Runs for pro club team with pro training in Latvia or Italy or Germany. Suddenly runs very fast time. Someone on here thinks its worth getting excited about. Rinse. Repeat.
How else she should train in high school? 30mpw?
She few years ago ran around 40mpw. Last year around 50 and now 60.
0 altitude training.

Could be a great Marathon talent. Does not seem to have enough speed to win 5/10k races

That's how a lot if not most of the athletics in European countries works - club system not school system.
Children go to school 8am to 3pm. After that You can go to stadium and train. Usually 2 hour workout.
Winters are harsh, You can barely jog nad go to gym.
Somy lucky cities have indoor track.

Do you have a point or are you just ignorant?
Ignorance. There are ar least a few 10k $ for an American teenager to be gained by getting an athletics grants for a good university (tuition saved, potential higher earnings later because of prestigious degree etc). Because of this and tradition high school sports are FAR more competitive in the US than anywhere in Europe. And because of this there are also far more teen phenoms in US athletics/sports than in continental Europe (Australia and UK are probably in between).
I admittedly don't know about Latvia but in Germany or France there is almost no tradition of highly competitive HS sports, nobody cares, you don't have any benefits at university or job (to the contrary), if you are really potential national top, you'll get a small sports grant but that's hardly comparable to the benefits quite a few US college athletes can reap.
It's a different issue that because of the above there is also a tendency in the US to burn out teens in HS and college.
In Europe if You are good at age 16-19, You can get to study in USA college for free. Some get burned out, because of hard training and then suck at NCAA.

You see great running economy, I see an athlete who never developed her 200/400/800 potential.

We've been seeing a resurgence in young European talent since Jakob's emergence, because for decades they didn't believe they could compete with the best African talent so they gave up. Now we see just how much better the club system is than the high school and university system. With much, much less participation than in the United States (4.14 million), but with older and better training partners and none of the scheduling difficulties and ignorance of the American system where you have all kinds of know nothings coaching the distance, the European club system does more with less. She's already ahead of Cook's American hs record by about 12 seconds and will probably break 15 this year, putting her close to the American college records at 18, I bet.
No, she works very hard for speed and power. Every week max effort sprints, jumps, strenght work in gym, hurdle drilles. She simply lacks fast twich muscle fibers.
Coach knows, that pure speed is her weakness, so they train it 2-4 times a week
