If you gave me an athlete who's run 3:39 I could coach him to run faster than 3:55 guaranteed
He’s running 5:35 pace for threshold reps(watch last video). Any decent HSer can do that. That is a significant step down from what he was doing last year with his dad when he was running sub 5 reps for his threshold. He looked weak as hell out there.
Damn I thought this was a full mile based on the time. I was hoping he would get back to PRing this season but it doesn't look likely.
Ditto.

He obviously went out too fast, but his opening 300 was only about 3:46 pace. I would have thought he could still run 3:46-3:48, even with 5:30/mile tempos and 60 miles a week.
Maybe he'll start to realize that not everyone criticizing his training is a deranged hater.
Ummm… why doesn’t he do the training he did in college?
It was more fun to watch, it didn't beat him up, it facilitated a lot of indoor and outdoor racing, he was threatening his PRs for 6 months of the year every year for 4 years, he ran faster, it did not seem as difficult as his dad's mile repeats, and it was far more relevant to 800-Mile racing then Ari's LT1/LT2 stuff.
I genuinely believe he could have stacked 2 more years of that Georgetown training, with East coast elite/sub elite indoor and outdoor track opportunities, and and been a 1:47, 3:36 guy. But he wanted to be the King of Boulder and went screaming downhill at the age of 23.

5:35 would be ok. If he had upped the mileage to 90 and was doing like 8 of them. That workout was just weird with these slow miles, like 3-8k paced intervals, and then some 400s. I would almost understand if the workout didn't have the 50s rest but as written it just seems odd.
Dude just needs to pick a system and stick with it for 2 years. Could have built off dads system last year and added strength. Got Norwegian and take 2 years to build to 80mpw and get used to doing ton of tempo. Heck do tinman or Daniels.
Instead he will pick something, do for 8 weeks and then switch things up....
