Was thinking of getting my son a Garmin 265. What do people think are among the better running watches out there?

Any thought?

Coros is the best
Coros sucks, face is too small can't read anything but the time. Too complicated.
It depends what you want the watch to do. If you want the latest greatest in tech then get a Garmin or something similar. If you just need a watch to tell time, have a stop watch, split capabilities, then go old school with a Timex Expedition with the velcro band.
12€ Casio. Need no more!
I met Wayde Van Niekerk in December and he was wearing ahuge ugly watch .I asked him if it had music storage but he said no its a Richard Mille .Maybe have a look online for one.
Depends on which features are important. Forerunner 55 is $250 cheaper and has a ton of features. Check out the DC Rainmaker website. He has all the reviews and comparison charts, etc.
Weird downvotes. Who downvotes a question about a watch? Lol. Anyway, thank you for your thoughts.
Timex Ironman.

This guy knows hip hop
Any garmin gps watch is good (avoid the step counter only one).
Personally; I think the the venu/vivo line is the the best bang for buck.
Coros pace 2
garmin forerunner 45
both same price and do what you need without the extra price or junk you don’t care about

I switched to a COROS Pace 2 after being a long Garmin fan. Best decision ever, amazing battery life, and valuable metrics on the app. A YouTube content creator compared a Vo2 max test to the watch’s prediction & it was extremely close. Not to mention it’s a great price!
I'm actually looking around for a new watch myself.
I use a Garmin FR230 which is perfectly adequate for my needs. I'd keep it forever except the battery is getting to the point where it only lasts about and hour and a half. I've owned it about 4 years with daily usage.
Personally, I feel that the 265 is WAY too expensive even though I would use it every single day either for biking or running. I'm leaning on buying a 245 without the music thing. $250 on Amazon now. I can afford whatever watch I want but it just makes me choke when I see the prices for these things. Oh well.
Timex Ironman. Do specific pace work on the tmill, track or a measured road course. Run by feel the other 95% of the days..
I have an amazfit bip, it has gps+glonass and was 30$ on amazon. works perfectly

IMO the biggest bang for your buck would be the Coros Pace 2. It's honestly the best running watch out there and the app is super helpful all while it costs the same as the cheapest Garmin watch (Garmin 45/55). Though Garmin is also pretty good respectfully because I've had experience with it, the Coros is just amazing with its features, app, battery, gps system, and how smooth it runs. Best option for ~$200 is the Coros by far.
