My 12 year old daughter had her first high jump event at her first track meet yesterday. She did it in her running sneakers with a just a quick lesson the day prior on how to do the approach and no other practice. She tied at 4', but was unable to clear the next height at 4'2". She is now asking for spikes because she said she found the track slippery, and all the other girls had them. She is pretty small at 4'10", and would like as much help as she can get.
She also runs the 100m and will possibly do the shot put. I would prefer just to get her one pair of track spikes since she often goes to volleyball practice right after, and has those shoes to lug around as well.
Are there any spikes out there that are multi-event? Her brother has an old pair of New Balance XC Seven V3 spikes that fit her. Would it be completely awful just to have her use those? The season ends in a month, so I am not really looking to spend a lot of money since it isn't her primary sport.
