You must be some kind of a person to first cheat your way to Boston, DNF and write it on social media, and then also have claimed a finishers medal in a year where some ACTUAL finishers do not get a medal due to shortage....
It has psychopath written all over it.
The guy ran a half marathon called the Downhill at Dawn HM in 1:40:03. Course starts at 2700' and ends at 1600', dropping an average of 84 ' per mile. Three months later he does a flat loop marathon in 3:23:29. The course is the same 1-mile loop repeated 26 times. Look at the variance among his splits for the race. Miles 1-5 were all between 8:05 and 8:32 and then he drops a 5:46. First 5 miles in 41:32; last 5 miles in 35:46. His last 5 miles were run at 22:13 pace for 5K; his recent Athlinks 5K results are 24:04, 22:09, 22:45, 22:46, 22:48, and 22:56. Nothing like cranking the last 5 miles of a marathon at your 5K PR pace.
And look at prior pictures of this guy from the original MI post. Fat!

yea, I was going to mention he didnt look exactly cross fit. If he's the only cheat then we are doing great I guess.
Haha, this is a 3:23 marathoner! Where's that thread about the fastest 3:00 marathoner? We have a winner if he can shave off 23 minutes!
No splits after 25K at Boston. I checked Marathonfoto to see how many photos they have of him (bib #15120) during the race - only 32. Almost everyone has at least 100. However, there are photos of him actually crossing the finish line. Looks like there are no photos between the Newton Fire House around mile 17 and the finish.
Hope he just comes clean and moves on. Even if he doesn't, no need to really go after the guy. It's clear enough that these actions weren't on the level.
On the plus side, it looks as though he's gotten himself in much better shape than he'd been in. Maybe he'll just turn back to the mindset and process that helped him on that road, and get himself away from the recent foolishness.

I was in 2:50-2:52 pace at boston this year around mile 22 and a woman with a beer belly passed me. Also had another guy finish just ahead of me and he looked like he spent most his days talking about scoring 4 touchdowns in a HS football game. Very soft, but not pudgy. I don’t discount anyone’s ability.

Love the positivity. But I wonder about people who go to great lengths and travel etc...to complete the ruse.

All seems fine to me.

I went down the rabbit hole . . .
If he legitimately went through the half in 1:48:41 -- 8:18 pace on average but slowing down the whole way (which seems possible based on his splits unless he rode a bike), that alone is impressive for a guy in his 60s who is not runner thin. However, he pretty clearly got a ride to the finish chute and was photographed with a bunch of people that finished in the mid 3:40s.

Not always as fast as you claim, but quick with the brotherly love.

Don't know the story but how the heck is there a shortage of finisher medals? They know exactly how many runners there are. Did some people take 2?
