I really think he should stop training for the 800. He ran fast tonight but he seemed so strained, and his stride seemed so much slower than during XC or last year. Hopefully he can get another shot at sub 4 but I think it's clear that he's not touching his brother's mile mark or the 800 record.
Aaron's ridiculously close to breaking four after running 4:00.30 in the Oregon Relays Pro Mile. The question is no longer if but when he will do it.
So when he ran 4:01 as a junior it was still a question of "if"? And after he won NXN it was still a question of "if"? This 4:00 has now changed how we think of his chances?

It doesn’t really matter what he runs this year though. Even if he graduates as “only” a 1:48/4:00 guy with an NXN title, Mike Smith can still make him one of the top milers in the NCAA
Given his great marks from last year and his unexpected NXN title and great blood line, I am underwhelmed by this. I think it really is missing Nico and Colin and running with the team. A year ago I was waiting for the great assault on all-time records at Penn and it has been all down hill at NP. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
What a difference a year makes. Gorze and Hansen are now the two best runners of HS age. You can't say high schoolers because the NP guys are free agents in the greater scheme of things. It all fell apart after the Young injury. All the team came out of the equation and everyone is an individual or sibling.

You mean he didn't " look relaxed" ?! That's unacceptable!
And since he was running 4:00 mile pace vs x-c 5k when his pace was obviously significantly slower, I kinda doubt " his stride was so much slower" in the mile compared to x-c. Really.
