Ironically enough, because of physics.
Newton tech did work, but for even fewer "responders," and did not employ the innovative foam. If it works for you, it works for you, but Nike/Adidas may work as well, and are better.

i tried newtons about 10ish years ago at my now-defunct b&m lrs.
made it about two blocks before those stupid sole lugs started to bother my feet and negatively affect my form/stride. other runners i used to know had similar issues. they just weren't good. heavy, stiff, and ugly to boot.
