I think Jonathan distracted Kipchoge with his similarly bald head as he didn’t seem to be able to focus on the hard hitting questions. Either that or he was looking forward to going to the LRC meetup later in the evening to ask the Brojos if he could wear the LRC singlet on Monday.

I don't think the interview was weird, just that Kipchoge was just very brief and to-the-point. He sounded as if it was the last of many, many interviews since being in Boston (probably was) like he was tired and didn't want it to drag on forever.
These guys get paid alot of money in appearance fees to show up and answer questions from the Press all day long. It has to become boring answering the same stupid questions over and over again and try to keep a pleasant demeanor

Like all of the greats, he has a massive ego. It’s not that he doesn’t understand every question. He rejects the premise of the deeper questions. He doesn’t view the training or racing in the way J. Gault assumes based on every other elite runner interviews.
I agree, Gault was kind of pressing him on things like age, pacing, hills, etc but Kipchoge was just not having it- politely but assertively said what he wanted to say, LetsRun be damned
thought that some of the questions (and follow ups) were inching toward an kind of negative vibe but, again, Kipchoge can more than hold his own against the journalist employed by this website and I am sure many other media members asked him about more 'pleasant' topics

If you can hold your own against the journalist then you answer every question as posed, while throwing in clever unexpected twists and anecdotes.
If you are overmatched then you spit out your preferred canned topics regardless of question
