That is a great speech. He's quite the renaissance man. Ran for him when he first started coaching at BYU. Everything you'd want a coach to be. Fun, serious, motivating, been there-done-that type of experience from NCAA to the Olympics. Helped a bunch of us get shoe deals. He get's the big picture - running is fun, but not the focus in life. His speech linked here is a good snapshot of his ideals and how they relate to coaching and mentors. One of my favorite memories was from our end-of-year party - he re-wrote the lyrics of Lose Yourself to retell the story of the season and each runner got a shout out/jab from something that happened. He did something like that every year. Just a good guy to be around!
